There is currently NO formal registered Art Therapy training in South Africa. Due to the strong interest and demand for Art Therapy in this country - an Intro to Art Therapy 5-Day Course has been developed which aims at introducing you to the internationally developed Art Therapy practice. The course is targeted at all adults (professionals, mental health practitioners, therapists, social workers, educators, students and artists) who are interested in and want to learn more about Art Therapy. The skills, tools and experiences gained by participants can be adapted to and incorporated in work spheres, as well as serve as a journey for self growth, insight and personal development.

Note: Art Therapy is a 2 year Masters qualification internationally, hence a 5-day course does NOT enable you to practise as an Art Therapist. For further Questions please see our Questions and Answers page

Art Therapy is an internationally accredited treatment process which offers a
safe, contained and supportive place, where clients can express and explore
thoughts and feelings through a variety of art materials (paint, drawing, clay,
collage etc) It is not necessary to be 'good at art' as no judgment is made on the
quality of the work produced, but rather the emphasis on the process of art
making. Art Therapy has proved to be helpful for a range of conditions and is
suitable for children and adults of all ages.
