COURSE CONTENT:

The Course is comprised of the following modules, namely:

1. Experiential Art Making

Art Therapy in groups is a highly effective, powerful and dynamic process. Working within a group format
encourages the learning of new and inspiring creative uses of various mediums as a means of expression.
Interaction with other group members provides an opportunity for sharing of feedback and insights around
the image making process thereby enhancing the learning experience.

   1a) Theme Based Groups
Groups directed by the facilitator work in a more directed manner with specific themes as a catalyst for
art making and provide an informal sense of outline, structure, containment and focus.

   1b) Psychodynamic Art Therapy Group

Each group inherently is unique and different in being comprised of individual personalities and paves a
unique path of exploration and opportunity whereby both the individuals and the group determine the
direction in which the image making follows.

1c) Open Art Studio
Time is available voluntarily focusing on one's own art making in an open based studio. This is a self-
directed process in that there is no formal group discussion.

1d) Journaling
The use of individual journals compliments one's individual process.

2. Theoretical Component

2a) Psychodynamic Art Therapy Theory
Includes lectures, Discussions, Questions and Answers and relevant and new literature
