What is Creativity?

Edward de Bono (leading world authority in the field of creative thinking) defines Creativity as “Bringing into being something, which was not there before.” Then he adds, “The new thing must have value”.

Creating and maintaining a balance of both work and life begins with a space set apart from everyday life whereby you can creatively reflect on and identify current work-life 'imbalances'. From this, energy can be channeled into directing 'imbalance' to 'balance.'

According to Einstein... "Imagination is FAR more important than knowledge!"

Art Therapy's Unique Methodology

Words can be limiting in terms of self-expression and communication. Art Therapy's Workshops for Corporates present a uniquely developed and researched methodology utilizing practical, creative and experiential learning rather than the traditional 'learning from a lecture and notes' approach.

This vastly benefits both the individual and the team in using their imagination - which stretches the mind far beyond the verbal capacity.

The workshops encompass expert facilitation in encouraging the process of generating and exploration of creative potential and integration of the practical learning within working life. Our products are selected according to your specific objectives and services required, thereby maximizing corporate outcomes.

Our Creative Products

Our creative products are selected according to your specific objectives and services required, thereby maximizing corporate outcomes. Various products are available to suite your specific requirements such as:

1. Creative Intro Stations

Various ‘stations’ or areas are set up with different art materials. The team works individually or in pairs – exploring the creative media. The process is fun, quick, interactive, spontaneous and non-judgemental.

Benefits: This exercise is very useful at the start of the workshop to familiarize the group with different art materials and with each other and also to relieve some of the initial anxiety around making art. FUN too!

2. Group Images on Mounted Canvas Board

*Most popular!* Team brainstorm followed by creating a group image onto giant mounted canvas boards. The picture can be in alignment with your team’s specific corporate objectives or goals, or just pure spontaneous exploration, fun and ‘time-out’.

Benefits: Creative interaction and communication both verbally and non-verbally through creativity, developing strengths, building trust, team cohesion, testing out of new ideas, visual planning, making new decisions together and enhancement of relationships. FUN too!

3. Mandala Workshop

Art Therapy Mandala Workshops for Corporates

Mandala is a Sanskrit word for ‘circle’ or ‘completion’. Creating mandalas are a natural form to work with in creativity because it is an important universal symbol of change throughout human history. Each person is inspired and guided into creating a ‘MANDALA’ using a variety of art materials and circular shapes and symbols onto a square mounted canvas board.

Benefits: Creating Mandala images opens up one’s inherent creativity and provides an opportunity for insight, healing and self-expression reflecting the wholeness of the person creating it. Research shows that Mandala’s are innately known to relieve stress, promote mindfulness, relaxation and focus attention. FUN too!

4. Ayurvedic Clay Workshop

The group is guided into the creation of coil pots, objects, containers or symbols with the earthy medium of clay.

Benefits: Clay is known for its relaxing, calming, grounding and healing properties, and ultimately de-stresses the physical body and the mind. Clay promotes interaction and visualization of ideas, and is useful for the communication of social and cultural awareness and appreciation. Clay offers an entirely different hands-on interaction with creativity and South Africans love this tactile medium!

5. Vision Board Workshop

What do you want to achieve in your work and life? Let’s activate these goals into reality!

Using pictures from magazines or photos, art materials and objects, each person creates a visual through collage representing goals and dreams that you wish to manifest, whether it be team or personal related.

Benefits: Some find collage less daunting than creating artwork from scratch. Promotes reflection, visualization, self-expression and motivation of team members. Especially useful for setting of goals at the beginning or end of a program or year. FUN too!

6. Photo Collage Team Workshop

How has your year been? What are your team’s goals for the coming year?

A creative and experiential look at your team through the eyes of the camera. Using photos/prints of colleagues and yourself (both at work and within life) and create a visual expression of pictures reflecting on the past and/or future. FUN too!

Benefits: Team interaction, collaboration, reflection, visualization of the future, insights of self and others, ordering of experiences, problem solving, interactive.

7. Puzzle Workshop

*Unique to Art Therapy* Brainstorm followed by creative thinking, planning, interaction, communication, sharing, listening, understanding and application of creativity within a team.

Benefits: Extremely motivating, dynamic, thinking out-the-box experience integrating left and right brain, team collaboration, visual planning, leadership development, building communication and enhancing team relationships.

ALL workshops are professionally facilitated by an internationally trained Art Therapist and group specialist.

Creativity allows for active participation for all team members. Absolutely NO art experience is necessary, as our workshops focus on the interactive process of creativity in teams rather than the outcome of a ‘perfect’ picture!

Using the process of Art Therapy has proven invaluable for diverse team situations including team-building, creative coaching, work-life balance, brainstorming, stress management, conflict management, change management, strategy development and trauma debriefing, to name but a few.

Much can be learnt through lectures, but greater learning is achieved through active participation of team members. Here, art materials are combined with brainstorming, interactive team work, communication and your specific goals, strategy and objectives. All workshops are professionally facilitated by an internationally trained Art Therapist who can then explore and interpret the key experiences for enhanced team effectiveness.

“It was the best week of my life, I learnt that I could always be happy as long as I was in a happy and comfortable space, and if I wasn’t I needed to create that space. I learnt that I was in control and all I had to do was to take charge and have fun and paint on a bigger board i.e. see the bigger picture. I am so grateful for the opportunity that came my way and that I was able to embrace and savor it.”
