After completion of the Art Therapy 3-Day Seminar or the Art Therapy 5-Day Intensive course – this ADVANCED Seminar is built on previously explored developed concepts, ideas, creativity, reflection and group experiences.
In your 3-day or 5-day Intro to Art Therapy workshop you already experienced the following:
- Exploration of the inter-relationship between play, art and therapy
- The value of boundaries in Art Therapy
- An understanding of a psychodynamic approach
- How art is a bridge between the conscious and unconscious
- Personal experiential art making and reflection processes
- Freud’s ‘free association’ through the image-making process
- Potential layers and the nature of symbols
- The complexities of interpretation
- Journeyed between the unknown and the known
In this 3-day PART 2 journey there will be a continuation in the development of theory, exploration of case studies and fresh experiential art making opportunities. Perhaps further explorations of Freud, Klein, Winnicott, Jung, Gestalt, Schaverian, Archetypes, Directive and Non-directive approaches, Group dynamics, journaling… digital art online... anticipation awaits!

As you already have experienced, facilitator Sam Davis follows a traditional Psychodynamic approach and teaching of fundamental concepts, however a diverse eclectic tool kit is used when appropriate and may include a further combination of Art Therapy interventions, coaching, archetypes, numerology, mindfulness, laughter, breathing, life skills and Journey Therapy techniques.
The seminar is facilitated by Samantha Davis, internationally trained and registered Art Psychotherapist (HPCSA AT 0000469) with more than 22 years’ experience.
