Interested in Art Therapy and curious to find out more?
Join a short online taster session where you can find out about Art Therapy in South Africa as well as have a short hands-on experience of both exploring Art Therapy and gaining awareness of the theories that underlie the practice. No art or psychology experience is required.
This taster workshop will provide you with an insight into the field of Art Therapy. It will also offer a window into the understanding of art psychotherapy for other professionals or others interested in learning about this unique profession for both personal and professional development.
After this taster workshop you may wish to participate in other offerings such as the Art Therapy 3 Day Intro Seminar Part 1 (available in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Online), which serves as a thorough opportunity to further develop and expand your knowledge and experience of the process of Art Therapy.
Outline of Taster Workshop:
- Introduction to art psychotherapy (training, practice, registration)
- Art-making
- Exploration of art-making, reflection and discussion
Learning outcomes
The aim of this taster session is for participants to develop:
- An introductory understanding of what art psychotherapy is
- The formal training required to become an Art Psychotherapist
- The use of art materials for expression and reflection
- Awareness and sensitivity to the potential of the art-making process for therapeutic purposes
